PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Once occupied by Melbourne’s largest circulating daily paper,
the Herald and Weekly Times, the building has been transformed into
61 prestigious residential apartments.
The building, originally completed in 1923, is heritage listed and
one of Melbourne’s best examples of the famous BeauxArts Architecture
and was home to The Herald and Weekly Times until 1997 when the
offices moved to Southbank.
The prestigious $40million redevelopment located on the corner of
Flinders and Exhibition Streets comprises of generous one, two and
three bedroom apartments designed by leading Australian architects
Hassell Pty Ltd, the overall refurbishment has adhered to strict
heritage regulations, maintaining the existing facade and internal
SERVICES DESCRIPTION
The Mechanical Services included all new installations throughout
and included:
- Factory assembled air cooled slit system packaged air conditioning
units comprising of either a ceiling or wall mounted fan coil
have been selected to condition the 61 apartments. A roof mounted
condensing set complete with interconnecting refrigerant piping,
wiring and controls has been installed for the operation of the
mechanical system.
- Each apartment employs a bathroom, laundry and kitchen exhaust
ventilation system, supplied from a vertical riser complete with
exhaust fan on the roof.
- Cooktops and in some apartments fireplaces also exist in the
apartments which are served from gas pipework extensions from
the base building riser.
